Windows 7 Beta download watch.

January 9, 2009

cat8_gallery__394x4000 Microsoft’s download site is terribly slow, but here is the link to  download the Windows 7 Beta (7000) which will be available today.

Additionally the windows blog has this to say about the beta.
UPDATE!!! ITs LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! GO GET IT NOW!

As of today, I am running the Windows 7 Beta on several different PCs including my laptop, my work PC, and my PC at home, which I upgraded recently to Windows 7 from Windows Vista SP1. (I’ll be outlining the PCs I’m using to test Windows 7 shortly.) I’m all connected with HomeGroup, I’ve got several different Libraries set up, and I’m loving the new Windows Taskbar. I’ve got Windows Media Center recording my favorite TV shows and my Zune 80 syncing up with the Zune software. And things are even better with Windows Live Essentials installed. I find the Windows 7 Beta to be an amazing beta release and I am extremely excited for you to get your hands on it later this week! I’d like to take a moment to share some specifics regarding the Windows 7 Beta that I think are very important for people looking to give Windows 7 a spin.

On January 9th, the Windows 7 Beta will be available for Windows enthusiasts to download via the Windows 7 page on Windows.com. The Windows 7 Beta is going to be available download-only (we’re not sending out physical media) and available for a limited time to the first 2.5 million people who download the beta.

All your keystrokes are belong to us.

November 10, 2008

epic_failure

It appears, that the G1 platform forgot to tell us something.   The Android OS sends any keystroke into the shell as root.  What does that mean? Type reboot, and it will reboot the device.  Type kill -SIGKILL, and  who knows.  Its nonsensical that this device being sold at walmart, has this sort of “enhancement”.  To correct the problem temporarily (read: needs to be done every reboot) is to follow the below instructions.

“Open the keyboard and type these 5 keystrokes: <return>-c-a-t-<return>. That will cause the phantom shell to not listen to commands any more, at least until the next reboot.”

“The senors connect to the computer, through this plug on her head”

November 3, 2008

The below video shows how a completely paralyzed man who is “locked-in” to this own body is able to type letters into a PC and use text to speech software to speak.   Each letter he thinks takes about 20 minutes to appear on screen, however it works without fail.  The technology in this video is so amazing its hard to comprehend how this will help people in the future.

I’m a cloud and and I’m a PC.

Microsoft officalized their cloud computing platform by way of the Professional Developers Conference.  They also launched the Azure Services Platform website.  Well, “launched” may be a bit of a strech, more like “i just noticed the website”.  Details after the link.

Download BlackBerry Storm and 8220 Emulators.

October 14, 2008

Are you freaking out because you want to use the new BlackBerry storm or 8220 (Flip pearl) but find that buying two devices is too spendy?  Look no further, as RIM has provided emulators to allow you to test the devices.  There are a few installs to complete and maybe some reboots, so unfortunatley not as easy to test like the  T-Mobile has released an emulator for the G1.
